How do I identify a fish?
Open the Catches tab and tap the Scan button, then take a photo or pick one from your gallery. The AI identifies the species in seconds and offers details on habitat, size, and behavior.
How do I log a catch?
After scanning a fish, tap Save Catch. Add weight, length, location, lure, and notes. View and edit your catches anytime in the Catches tab.
Why isn't the fish being identified correctly?
For best results take a clear, well-lit photo that shows the fish's distinctive features. Try different angles or better lighting. The AI works best with focused images that show fin shape, scale pattern, and head detail.
Is my data backed up?
Your catches and trips are stored locally on your device. If iCloud Backup is enabled, your app data is included in your device backup. Shared community catches are stored on our servers and stay tied to your account.
Are the fishing regulations accurate?
We work to keep regulations current, but they change often. Always verify with your state fish and wildlife agency before fishing.
How do I buy lures through the app?
Tap any lure in the Tackle Box, then the orange Shop on Amazon button. This opens Amazon with a search for that lure. FishWise earns a small commission from qualifying Amazon purchases at no extra cost to you.
How do I delete my Community account?
In the app, open Privacy & Security and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, shared catches, follows, likes, comments, and push tokens. The action cannot be undone.
